A UNESCO World Heritage Site with forests of thousand-year-old alerce trees and crystal-clear lakes: Futalaufquen, Verde, Rivadavia and Menéndez. From Trevelin, take Provincial Route 71.
Perfect for a day of viewpoints, lake beaches and trails, or for staying several days.
Trevelin, the mill town
Founded by Welsh settlers in the 16 de Octubre valley, Trevelin keeps its tea houses, mills and museums. In spring, the tulip fields bloom with the Andes in the background.
Along National Route 259, towards Chile, you will find the Nant y Fall waterfalls and the Nant Fach mill.
Esquel, La Trochita and La Hoya
25 km from Trevelin, Esquel is the gateway to the region. La Trochita, the Old Patagonian Express, leaves from its station with steam locomotives that cross the steppe to Nahuel Pan.
In winter, Cerro La Hoya is the local ski resort, and La Zeta lagoon is just minutes from downtown. With winter tyres included, snow is no problem.
Cross into Chile via Futaleufú
Following National Route 259 from Trevelin you reach the Futaleufú international border crossing. On the other side, the town of Futaleufú and its turquoise rivers, famous for rafting.
Our vehicles have a permit to enter Chile: let us know when booking and keep travelling across the Andes.
